The story of Vega and Altair is cruel yet hopeful. As a Goddess of the Heavens, Vega was forbidden to see her lover, a cowherd named Altair. Separated by the Milky Way, also known as the Celestial River, the two are kept apart every day of the year, except for one day. On this day, it is said that a bridge of magpies forms for Altair to cross the Celestial River and reach his lover. Although you are no cowherd reaching for your beloved Goddess of the Heavens, this spaceship's quick journey across the stars represents only a fraction of the distance they cross to meet every year.
